Volunteer With Us

When you volunteer with The International Lineman Museum and Hall of Fame, you expand your horizons, meet interesting people and surround yourself with some of the coolest lineman relics and artifacts anywhere. Volunteer opportunities exist for teens, college students and adults of all ages, and are constantly changing based on the needs of the museum. General Volunteer Qualifications

  • Interest in history, museums, office procedures, retail work, or equivalent.
  • Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English.
  • Demonstration of good customer service skills.
  • Willingness to learn and follow professional museum practices.
  • At least 14 years of age. Persons under 18 must provide parental consent.
  • Ability to accept supervision, work both independently and in a group, and be flexible to changing situations.
  • Complete initial volunteer staff orientation (3 sessions of 3 hours each).
  • Attend specialized training as required, including event training.
  • Work a minimum of 30 hours per year during operating hours. Special projects are available at other times.

Docents must be enthusiastic, cheerful and willing to learn. They should have an interest in working with people, especially young people, and experience or education in history, political science, art, or teaching can be helpful, although not required.

To fulfill the Museum’s mission and goals, the Development volunteer staff member will assist primarily with greeting visitors and office-related projects, but also may work in the Museum Store and help with other Museum programs and fundraising projects. 

Majoring in Museum Studies? Help history come alive. Specific responsibilities include acquiring, cataloging, caring for, and exhibiting artifacts; researching and interpreting historical materials into accessible knowledge for others.
